Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. – 2 Cor. 1:3-4
Hope For Life Ministries came about in 2008 because I wanted to share the love of my Jesus to anyone who would listen. As we each walk our individual paths laid out by a holy God before the creation of the world, we can look back and see the handprints of Jesus all over it. When we were scared and stressed and worried and fearful, and maybe even mad and angry, we realize that somehow, some way, we made it through. We never come through circumstances unchanged. The choice then becomes, what are we going to do with what we have learned? Are we going to allow what happened harden us and move us away from God, or will we lay it all at the feet of Jesus to do with it that which brings honor and glory to His name. Lord Jesus, take my mess and glorify Thyself!
What was it for you? For me, it was my father’s suicide while I was a junior in high school. My childhood ended and I was faced with a choice. As a child who grew up in the church, seemingly it would be an easy answer. Would I choose to completely trust God with whatever happened and whatever was going to happen next, or would I take matters into my own hands and move forward without the God I grew up hearing Bible stories about? I had accepted Christ at 10, but was far from understanding the weight of that decision. Praise God I belonged to Him when I didn’t even know what that meant. It was now time to head out into my wilderness. The choices I would make during those years were not only known by God before the creation of the world but were allowed by Him because He would use those experiences to His glory once He brought me out into the clearing. Praise Him.
What was it for you? How are you using what God has taught you to honor and glorify Him? How are you helping others with what you have learned?
Have you truly given your heart and life completely to Christ? Do you know the One who died for you – while you were yet a sinner (Rom. 5:8) – so you could live eternity with Him? Have you asked for forgiveness for decisions you made in your wilderness? Have you forgiven others where forgiveness is needed? Have you been made whole by a holy God?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me for I am a sinner. I need You. Come into my heart today and make me whole. Protect my heart from the attacks of the enemy that I may serve You with all that I am. Take my mess and glorify Thyself. I pray in the beautiful, holy name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior… amen.
